Installing Fonts in Windows
XP or Earlier
A great advantage
to digital scrapbooking is the ability to
customize your scrapbooking pages. One great way
to add a little personality to your pages is
through fonts. Fonts can be used for page titles
or for journaling. Many people have told me that
they would love to use fun and creative fonts,
but it is just too expensive and complicated!
The truth is, finding and installing absolutely
fabulous free fonts is not that hard at all.
Visit our
Free Fonts Page for some great downloads.
Then follow the steps below to get them
installed.
Step 1 -
Downloading the Font
Once you've found a font you
like, the first step is to download the font.
Each font site is a little different, but in
most cases you will either click on the font
itself or on a download button. Your download
should start automatically. Then you can either
click "Open" or "Save".

Once your file has downloaded
you will need to unzip it. This is the same
process you use for opening our digital
scrapbooking files. Simply click "Extract all
files" under the Folder Tasks menu. The Extract
Wizard will open. Click "Next" and choose the
location you want to save your new fonts to.
Then "Finish"
Step 2 -
Installing the font
Once your font is "Unzipped" to
your computer it is time to install. Click the
"Start" button located at the bottom left of
your screen. Then click the control panel and
open the "Font" folder.

With the "Font" folder open all you need to
do is drag your newly downloaded font into the
"Font" folder. You can also copy and paste the
new font into the "Font" folder. What ever is
easiest for you.

Step 3 - Using Your New Font
Now for the fun part, using your
font. Before you can use you new fonts, you may
have to restart you photo editing program. Then
just type in what you want to say and from the
font menu choose your new font. How easy is
that!
